Xindiro cia de Canto e Dança

The Xindiro Companhia de Canto e Dança is a non-profit cultural association (recognised by order of the Ministry of Justice of 27 October 2009 and legally incorporated by public deed of 14 December 2009). Founded on 1 June 1994 by a group of children at the Maguiguana Primary School, the group’s headquarters and rehearsal studio is at the school located in the peripheral neighbourhood of Maxaquene D, at Rua 1º de Maio, 3374.

It’s a Professional Company that at the moment has 48 members, of which 24 are adolescents and 24 are children, and there are 40 children in training in the technical areas of traditional Mozambican dances, who double in various functions to respond to certain requests, and this always characterises the way the group works. The Company is characterised by the performance of the best Mozambican rhythms, by the coordination of voices for the songs that marked part of the history of Mozambique, and by the design of the costume they wear. The Company has participated in many national and international events (such as in Mauritius, Norway, Zimbabwe, South Africa, France and The Netherlands), always representing the best of Mozambican symbols by coordinating voices and rhythms, using songs that have made up the History of Mozambique.
